Scheduled Tasks: recurring analyses that run on their own

Set an analysis to run daily, weekly or monthly. Each run opens in its own chat, and an email lets you know when the results are ready.

Monitoring is mostly repetition. The same field every Monday, the same watershed at the start of every month, the same flood check after every week of rain. Each run is easy; remembering to do it, on time, for months, is the hard part.

Scheduled Tasks, new in GeoRetina AI 2.0, take that off your list. Set an analysis up once, and it runs in the background on the timetable you choose, with an email when the results are ready.

A schedule runs the same analysis on its own. Each run opens in its own chat, and an email tells you when the results are ready.

Set it up in a conversation

You create a schedule the way you'd ask for any analysis: in chat. Describe what should run and when, and the assistant turns it into a schedule proposal showing what will run, the area, when it runs (with the next few run times), the mode and how you'll be notified.

Nothing runs until you press Start schedule. You can edit the proposal first, or choose to also run it once straight away.

Anything you can ask for in chat can be scheduled, in Core or Super mode. Map analyses run over an area selected on the map, and the area is saved with the schedule, so later changes to the original area don't move it.

Try asking
  • Every Monday at 08:00, check vegetation health over the north field and compare it with the week before.

  • Every week, map flooding over this area for the previous seven days.

  • Every day at 14:00, report land surface temperature over this neighbourhood.

  • On the 1st of every month, run a vegetation health analysis over this watershed and email me when it's done.

Runs on its own, on your timetable

A schedule can run once, daily, weekly on the days you pick, or monthly on a day of the month, at a local time in your time zone. You can give it a start date, an end date or a number of runs. Runs start on time whether or not your browser is open.

Each run opens a new chat in the schedule's project, titled with the schedule's name and date. It runs exactly like the same request typed into chat, so you get the same analysis, maps, figures and written answer, and every run keeps its own record. From the second run on, the assistant can see the previous run, so it can tell you what changed.

Tip for satellite checks

Clouds can hide the ground for days at a time. A window of a couple of weeks or more is more likely to find a clear image than a few days.

Know when it's done

After each run, you get an email with a link to its results. You'll also hear from us when a run needs your decision, fails or is skipped, or when a schedule pauses. Turn email off for any schedule you'd rather check yourself; run chats are marked in the sidebar either way.

Some analyses ask a question before they continue. A run that needs your answer waits for it and emails you, and the schedule's later runs still happen on time.

Manage everything from the Tasks page

The Schedules tab on the Tasks page lists every schedule with its timing, next run, notifications and last run. From there you can pause and resume a schedule, run it now, edit it or delete it, and open its run history, with each run's status, the credits it used and a link to its chat. Deleting a schedule keeps the chats of its past runs.

To change a schedule's area or mode, ask for a new one in chat.

Safe by default

Every run checks again that you still have access to its project, that your plan includes it and that you have the credits to run it. If you're out of credits, the run is skipped and the schedule pauses, and an email tells you why. Three failed or skipped runs in a row also pause a schedule, so a problem never repeats unnoticed. Each run uses credits the same way the same request would in chat.

Only you can start a schedule. Text in documents or web pages can't create one, and a scheduled run can't create more schedules.

Availability

Scheduled Tasks are available on paid plans in the GeoRetina AI web app. How many schedules you can have active at once depends on your plan. Open the Tasks page to see your schedules, or just ask in chat for the analysis you want to repeat.
